Selenite is a form of crystallised gypsum.

It grows as pearly, parallel crystals that are colourless to transparent and is normally found in clay beds.

These Selenite Mountains have been hand carved.

Also note the natural of this mineral is that it grows as fibrous straighted long crystals, which is provides the crystal its structure and typical straight lined construction, this is means that the crystal is by nature fragile and can shed small bits of crystal.
