A member of the daisy family and given its common name 'curry plant' because of the smell of its leaves.

It grows wild on dry, rocky or sandy ground and likes the warmth! It has a woody base with a grey foliage topped with yellow flowers.

Recognised to be an excellent attractant and nectar source for bees and other beneficial insects.

  • Reaches approximately 2 feet (60 cm) tall.
  • Clusters of yellow flowers in Summer.
  • Perennial.
  • Shrubby in habit.
  • Evergreen.
  • Likes a full sun position.
  • Free draining soil 
  • Likes alkaline or neutral soil types.

Culinary Uses: Has a mild flavour when cooked, lovely edible flowers.
Lots of medicinal uses, the oil from the blossom is used mainly for this.

  • Fungicide properties.
  • Astringent properties.
  • Can help sooth burns.
  • Can aid chapped skin.


Can be used as dried flowers.
Can be used in perfumes.
Can be used as a cat deterrent (although we don't have any experience of this!)
Pest deterrent (deer don't like it apparently!)
Good for pot pourri.
Makes a nice dried flower.
